Expressing solidarity with students and citizens protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi in a televised message accused the BJP govt of using brute force to suppress dissent. Drawing a parallel with “notebandi”, Sonia said CAA will force all individuals to stand in a queue to prove their and their ancestors’ citizenship.
