Essential Tips for Buying a Foreclosed Property

When purchasing a foreclosed home for the first time, you may not be prepared for the differences in buying a regular property. For the most part, there will be a number of requirements set out by the owners. You will be required to produce preapproval letters on demand before offers are considered and you can almost bet that negotiation won’t be entertained.

That being said, foreclosures can provide a family with an excellent property at a fraction of the price. The benefits to buying foreclosed homes definitely outweigh any negatives but there are processes to buying this way. These apply to foreclosed homes in Queens and foreclosed homes in pretty much any other part of the United States, so ensuring you have your facts straight should alleviate any anxieties.

Get a Preapproval Letter from a Lender

This is important unless you are planning to make the purchase with cash. As the process of buying a foreclosed property can be a lot faster than a regular home, simply finding a property and taking your time working out how to finance its purchase may leave you empty-handed.

These homes – due to the potential for profit – go exceptionally quick. By the time you have sorted things out with a lender, the early bird will have probably caught the worm.

Utilize All of Your Search Options

You may be lucky and find a foreclosed home in the area you desire with just a few clicks of your mouse, but this would be a rarity. There are a number of real estate agents that specialize in foreclosed homes, so be sure to use their sites.

As many banks tend to work with particular real estate brokers, it may be worth finding one who is trustworthy. Quite often, they are aware of properties coming on to the market which have yet to be listed. This may work out in your favor.

Compare Against Other Homes in the Area

You want to know that the price you are paying is reflective of other homes on the street and in the area, in general. The best way to do this is to look at recent sales and compare them against the price tag of the home you have been offered. Do this, preferably before you think of speeding up the sale of your own home.

Looking at comparable properties helps you determine if the bank has overpriced the property. In the case where it is underpriced, move fast and you may secure a great deal.

Don’t Drag Your Heels

You are not the only person or family with the idea of purchasing a foreclosed home to make a profit or to live in. As the prices of such properties’ tend to be very low, there is naturally going to be a number of other potential buyers scoping it out.

Don’t drag your heels to avoid dealing with the stress of the process if you are serious about a particular home. Be ready to pounce and have your pre-approval letter and all other affairs in order to the best of your abilities. This may be the difference in securing the home and losing out.

Should You Trade or Invest in Cryptocurrencies?

For traders, one of the hot topics of discussion at the moment is cryptocurrencies. Since the massive rise and fall of Bitcoin at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, traders around the world are suddenly looking at them in a new light. There are two main approaches – trading and investing – but how do you decide which is the one for you?

Trading vs investing – what’s the difference?

To start with, let’s take a look at the difference between trading with, or investing in, a cryptocurrency. When you invest or buy a cryptocurrency you:

  • Have to own the currency and put up the full value of it
  • Pay any capital gains tax on profits you make from it
  • Are directly affected by the changes in value to the cryptocurrency
  • Have to have an exchange account to buy and sell (which often has introductory limits)
  • Face deposit and/or withdrawal fees

On the other hand, if you trade with a cryptocurrency, you:

  • Speculate on the price without actually owning the currency
  • Can use leverage so you only need to put up a fraction of the total value (10% is a popular figure) meaning you can trade with a lower capital amount
  • Won’t have to pay capital gains tax on profits
  • Only have indirect exposure to the market volatility and changing values
  • Don’t need an exchange account and can trade immediately
  • No maximum deposits

Why you might want to invest

When you buy cryptocurrencies, you are purchasing the entire asset and it then becomes yours. You can only buy or sell cryptocurrencies using an exchange. To set up an exchange account, you need to register with an exchange and go through the process to create an account. This can take a little time and there may be limits as to how much you can spend at first.

Once you own the asset, you feel the full impact of changes in value. So if the asset increases in value and you sell, you make the profit. But if the value falls, you are either faced with selling at a loss or holding something worth less than before. The extreme volatility of the cryptocurrency market can make this a tricky balance.

Why you might want to trade

There are some good reasons why people are favouring trading with cryptocurrencies at the moment and top of the list is volatility. When the value of an asset changes regularly, sharply and often without clear reason, it can make it difficult to own.

But when you trade, you can make a profit from either increase in value or decrease because you don’t own the asset itself. It is also possible to start trading with a much lower capital than when you invest in the asset – you might need as little as 5-10% of the total asset value in order to make trades. It also means that if you make a loss, the overall loss is much lower than it would be if you owned the entire asset.

Finally, there’s no need to have an exchange account when you trade cryptocurrencies. You can simply use a platform such as Weiss Finance where you can start cryptocurrency trading with a low initial capital amount. Because you don’t need to own the asset and are simply leveraging it, you can trade without the need for a massive investment. And you can start trading straight away as there is no delay as there is with setting up an exchange account or limits placed on your account.

Entrepreneurs Can Choose from 7 Unexpected Men’s Wedding Band Styles

When it’s time to tie the knot, more couples than ever are choosing rings that break from the traditional gold and silver to express their unique personalities. In the past, women had all the variety with countless options of styles and gems to choose from. However, recent trends are bringing more variety than ever to men’s wedding band choices. Here are a few of the most unexpected men’s wedding band styles:

Wooden Bands

These are perfect for the earthy guy. These wooden and wood-inlaid bands bring a rustic charm to the traditional wedding band. These offer a simple, classic appeal while incorporating a very modern style to the look. Because there are so many styles and shades of wood available, these rings can also offer an exotic look.

Wood grain rings are available in a variety of different wood, including:

  • Mahogany
  • Ash
  • Red oak
  • Walnut
  • Teak
  • Koa wood
  • And more

Meteorite Bands

We are all made of star stuff, and meteorite bands are the perfect symbol for a love that spans the galaxies. This ultra-modern wedding trend is perfect for a modern couple. Meteorite bands are crafted from solid meteorite, resulting in a completely unique ring every time. Each ring is gorgeous and unique. They can be inlaid into gold, chrome, or zirconium to perfectly match your style.

Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber rings are perfect for the minimalist groom. These rings offer a sleek look crafted with carbon fiber composite. Thanks to science, these rings are surprisingly light but also incredibly strong. Because they are crafted from a highly durable, aircraft-grade synthetic polymer, carbon fiber rings are extremely comfortable to wear. Created in labs, they are also conflict-free and hypoallergenic, making them a perfect match for the socially conscious couple. The sleek black, blue, or silver of the carbon fiber makes them an attractive, modern choice.

Damascus Steel

Damascus steel is another unexpected but popular look for groom’s bands. This is the perfect look for the strong, proud warrior. This incredibly strong steel, originally produced in India, was once used to craft knives and swords around Damascus, Syria. The metal is crafted by a process of folding and welding that creates a beautiful wavy or marbled quality in the appearance of the ring. These rings are perfect for the man with a strong Viking spirit.

Nature-Inspired Rings

One of the biggest recent trends in men’s wedding rings is the nature-inspired wedding band. These are a way to really stand out from the crowd and are available in more styles than you might expect. Cowboys and hunters love camo-inspired rings. These come in many shades of camouflage and are available with a variety of metals. Rings with animal track patterns, deer antlers, and tree outlines are also popular with nature lovers.

Unusual and Unique Patterns

The sky is the limit when it comes to patterned rings. Beautiful rings inlaid with mother-of-pearl or embossed in filigree offer a break from the traditional. Other men’s rings incorporate faith or hobbies with patterns of crosses, basketballs, or tire tread. For city lovers, a New York or Chicago skyline might be the perfect choice.

Surprising Metals

Two of the more surprising metal trends for men’s wedding bands are cobalt chrome and rose gold. Cobalt chrome is a popular metal alloy comprised of chromium and cobalt. It is completely scratch-resistant and one of the strongest metals available today, which makes it a perfect choice for grooms who spend a great deal of time working with their hands. Rose gold has taken off in recent years as a coveted metal known for its unique splendor and attractiveness. It is the perfect ring for wide-eyed dreamers and star-crossed lovers.

Gone are the days of boring, identical wedding bands. With all of these fantastic options available in today’s market, every couple can enjoy a pair of wedding bands as unique as their romance.

How to Avoid Copyright Lawsuits & Demand Letters from Law Firms

It is a known fact that Copyright is a kind of intellectual property protection. You will often notice copyright violation warnings while watching a movie. It actually extends beyond songs on the radio to videos, paintings, software, books, pictures and blogs. If you are a home-based business owner, you are advised to know the best ways to avoid copyright lawsuits from law firms.

It is significant to know that the copyright laws are actually designed for protecting the creator of any original work. Copyright law helps protect creativity by giving those who invest in creating things the exclusive right to control what they create. It means that the creators or authors own the full rights to a work and can also decide how other people use their creation.

People who use someone’s photo may wind up receiving a copyright letter insisting that they remove the image and pay for the time it was used. Receiving a notice, or copyright letter, is a big hassle that consumes time and valuable resources. If you want to avoid unwanted lawsuits, you can follow these tips properly.

Tips to avoid copyright letters

Here are simple guidelines to avoid copyright issues as follows:

  • Tread with caution if the business is not yours

If you did not produce it, it is not yours to use freely. This condition is the same even if the business does not have the copyright symbol. Copyright lawsuits are also applicable for images available online. It is important to get the permission or license for using things which are not yours.

Most home-based businesses have copyrights, so you are recommended to read with caution before using any business idea or products that are not truly yours.

  • Read carefully

Most home-based business owners like to share their works for either proper attribution or for free. The usage terms or rules are frequently in the license forms on their websites. It is crucial to read and review the accurate licensing terms to avoid legal issues.

  • Other smart ideas

A scrupulous way to avoid copyright lawsuits is to get the permission of business owners before using their business’s assets or ideas. If you fail to acquire permission of other entrepreneurs, you can simply restate their business ideas with proper credit. It is always smart to simply avoid using ideas of others.

  • Consider Fair Use

Even though unawareness is not a protection, there are a few exceptions to these copyright lawsuits. It is known as fair use and is associated with having proper education. The idea is that when home-based business owners are utilizing any business details or images for non-commercial or educational purposes, then they may be excused from the lawsuits.

In short, it is essential to properly understand both the copyright rights and laws in relation to the original developers to avoid copyright letters. Instead of receiving legal action or fines, you can get permission before using other’s work. Proper permission will save your valuable money and time. The above steps are simple to understand and follow, so you can utilize them to avoid copyright hassles easily. Moreover, you will also know how to protect your own business and educate your staff regarding copyright infringement. That way, you will legally preserve the well-being of your business’s future.

How to Market Cannabis Businesses for Huge Success

Highly effective advertising and marketing are very important to the potential success of a business, especially one that is a part of a new industry or that is highly controversial in nature, like anything related to cannabis. So many businesses are trying to be active in the industry but this is not at all easy since there are various restrictions and legislations that need to be respected. Marketing becomes paramount for the success of the cannabis business, but it is highly limited, so MJ Freeway’s dispensary and grow software offers some tips you need to remember.

Never Market Cannabis Businesses Near or to Minors

It is vital to be smart about branding used and where advertising is placed. Age restrictions should always be kept in mind. The industry is quickly growing but we are still at an early stage. This practically means that people raise numerous concerns and questions about legalization and its impact on underage people. All marijuana businesses need to assuage fears and choose suitable marketing options. The marketing strategy should always take minors into account and the effects it has on them.

Never Infringe Existing Copyrights

The established mainstream companies will not appreciate having trademarks and brands mimicked by any cannabis related company. While with other industries you can easily avoid problems and you will not need to worry about much as copyright infringement is rarely serious, with the cannabis industry this is something that you should be extremely careful about. The newly established companies will be faced with huge problems as they get sued by much larger firms.

The Brand Needs to Stand for Something

It is really important to consider how the company would squash stigmas and deal with the current situation of the industry. Branding is all about being a part of the industry and dealing with all that is happening. Make sure that you always avoid derogatory messaging, sexist messages and that you maintain fair practices for labor. In your marketing campaign you need to attract quite a broad and diverse demographics that will do its part to support the brand in the future. However, this can only happen if your brand actually stands for something. Cannabis businesses stand out as being limited in advertising ability but simply because you cannot use the mainstream channels does not mean the brand should not stand for something meaningful.

Online Is Your Friend

In order to be successful as you market your cannabis business you need to focus on the internet world. While in some cases the regular marketing channels are effective, this tends to only happen with education campaigns, and at times it can be difficult to advertise. If you want to be sure that you reach your huge potential, focus on the use of online channels. This includes both websites and social media. The cannabis businesses that want to use just the mainstream channels that accept such content are never fulfilling their true potential. Always think out-of-the-box with your marketing campaigns and you will notice the cannabis business grows at a rate that is much higher.

When a Hobby Brings Riches: People Who Made Their Fortune Doing What They Love

Many people would like to become a rich person one day. It may even be a dream of yours. However, do you have what it takes to become rich? Yes, you do have all it takes. According to me, being rich only requires one to have dreams and ambitions. If you work hard, you will achieve all you want to be and become a wealthy person in the world.

Do you know some of the richest people only focused on what they loved doing to make money? If you look at the world of the wealthy, many are using their hobbies to make money. For instance, they make a living in photography, landscape design, vlogging, product reviews as well as making money on sites like http://onlineroulettewheel.co.uk/ and other avenues that provide a good income.

Do you have a hobby? In addition, do you think it can make you rich? If so, please make sure it can truly improve your financial status by doing research. The following are some of the people who are reaping big from their hobbies.

People Who Made Their Fortune Doing What They Love

Currently, there are not a surplus job vacancies out there for everyone. Hence, some of the clever job seekers found alternative ways to make money. By using their hobbies, the following people are now running multi-billion dollar companies.

Terry Finley

The horse racing enthusiast decided to transform his hobby into a money-making business. Finley is the founder of West Point Thoroughbreds. West Point Thoroughbreds is a horse racing management company in the US. It also deals with developing horse racing competitions.

Finley was a life insurance vendor when he purchased his first horse. Before that, Terry ventured into the horse business. He was an avid horse-betting lover for many years. Therefore, his love for horses began a long time ago.

He bought his first horse at $5,000. Not long after he had bought the horse named Sunbelt, Terry’s horse won its first racing competition. After Sunbelt won his first race, as a venture capitalist, he bought some ownership rights of the horse.

This enabled Finley to buy a new horse in less than two months. Not long after his business started making huge profits did Finley resign from his insurance job. He fully decided to make West Point Thoroughbreds the best horse management company in the US.

Through advice from entrepreneurs that had similar businesses, he was able to grow his company. Later in 2004, he decided to revamp the West Point Thoroughbred website to enable him to track his metrics.

As of today, Terry’s company is worth six and a half million US dollars.

Megan Duckett

At nineteen, Megan, an Australian citizen, moved to Los Angeles in the US. Her main vision was to work in the entertainment business one day. In her free time, she would work as an event organiser. In addition, when she had nothing to do, she would do sewing. She mostly would make outfits, bed covers and long curtains.

One day, an opportunity came knocking. It was for making inside layers inside ten attractive coffins. Duckett took the job, and since then she decided to focus on sewing, as it was a talent unique she possessed that set her apart from other people.

Years later, Megan was reaping big from her sewing hobby, sometimes even making more money than she did at her event organising job. After this realisation, she decided to leave her job and concentrate on sewing. She rented a warehouse and employed three people who helped her.

In the first year of the business, she was able to make a revenue of $80,000. The name of her business was “Sew What?” Megan started sewing items such as bags that had her company’s logo. Currently, her company is recognised when it comes to sewing in the United States of America.

Some years back, Megan opened a new business known as “Rent What?” that offered people to rent long curtains rather than buying them. Now, both her businesses are generating $6.2 million in production sales.

Craig Jenkins Sutton

Craig’s hobby is gardening. However, did he know he could make money with his hobby? We bet ‘no’. Craig started Topiarius in 2003, which is a landscape designing and maintenance company. It is based in Chicago.

The main service Topiarius offers to their clients is an appealing landscape according to a customer’s necessities. Through its expert workers, it has been able to provide the best services to their customers. Topiarius works with both commercial and residential customers.

Before many customers preferred Craig’s company, he went door to door leaving posters of what his company did. Within a week, he received calls from around forty customers. By doing this, he was able to double the company’s income, as many customers have requested his landscape designing services since.

Presently, Craig’s revenue is over a million US dollars in the last financial year.

Conclusion

We know that different people have different hobbies. Nevertheless, do you know how to make them useful in improving your living status? Many of you may think that starting a business from what you like doing is easy.

If you want to reap big from your hobby, do research and look through the financial and legal requirements for your business. If you have a unique hobby, make sure to use it to make money and start your own company.

7 Questions That Will Create More Money

When it comes to money, most people are looking for the answer. They look outside themselves for a proven strategy or magic formula so that they can get it right.

What I’ve found in working with hundreds of small business owners is that someone else’s answer rarely works for you. It may have worked great for them but duplicating it doesn’t necessarily create the same result for you.

What if you know far more than you’ve ever given yourself credit for?

Instead of looking for the right answer, I invite you to start asking questions. Asking questions opens the door to more information and more possibilities than you have never considered and puts you and your business on the creative edge.

Here are seven quality questions you can start asking now to start creating more money in a way that works for you:

Question 1: Is this light or heavy?

In life, we get presented with a multitude of choices and opportunities and it can seem daunting to know which is the ‘right one’ to choose. This question is designed to help you navigate through the maze of choice and empower you to know that you actually know what is true for you.

What’s true for you will always make you feel lighter.

Ever notice when your business and your finances are thriving, everything in your world has a lightness to it? That’s when you’re choosing what is light. Now, have you ever had moments when things were not working, and everything just kept feeling heavier? That’s an indication that it may be time to consider choosing something different.

One of the best ways to start creating what you truly desire or what your business truly desires, is to always choose the lightness. For every choice you make you can ask this question, choose light and you’ll be amazed at what continues to show up! Especially when it’s money!

Question 2: How does it get any better than this?

Have you ever heard someone say, “It doesn’t get any better than this!” or “This is as good as it gets!” Well, your point of view creates your reality, reality does not create your point of view. You create what shows up in your life. So, if your point of view is that it doesn’t get any better, that’s exactly what you will create. When you ask, “How does it get any better than this?” you actually invite greater and greater possibilities to you all the time. You can ask this when something good happens AND when something bad happens. If the amount of money you are currently making is the most you ever thought you could make, ask “how does it get any better than this?” instead of stopping where you are. If you get a large bill, or something doesn’t go the way you thought it would with money or finances, instead of going into how terrible and wrong it is, ask, “How does it get any better than this?” You might find out that you get something else that ends up bigger and better than the loss. What if you could always create something greater than what was yesterday?

Question 3: What’s right about this, I’m not getting?

When something goes wrong, or you feel stuck, ask this question. Instead of putting all of your attention on the problem, asking this question allows you to see what else is possible that you’ve never considered. It takes you out of focusing on what’s wrong and gets you to change your perspective, so you can start changing the situation with ease. If nothing was right and nothing was wrong, what choice would you have available?

Question 4: What else is possible here that I haven’t considered?

When you come to a conclusion about anything, everything stops. Including your money flows. So, every day ask this question and it will allow more of everything, including money to continue to show up. If you have people that work for you, this is a great tool to give them when they come up against roadblocks or situations that you can’t seem to find a way out of.

Question 5: What will your life or your business be like in the next 5 years if you choose this?

Often times, people are so focused on the now that they are not taking into consideration how each choice will affect their future. If you ask this question for every choice, especially with regards to money, you’ll start seeing what a generative choice for will actually be the now and for the future. So, just ask “What will my life be like in the next 5 years If I choose this?” And get a sense of that. Then ask, “What will my life be like in the next five years if I don’t choose this,” and get that sense. Then, go with what feels the lightest. Just because an opportunity presents itself, doesn’t mean it will turn out the way you think it will. This question allows you to plan for a greater future with every choice you make today.

Question 6: If money wasn’t the issue, what would you choose?

Most people make choices based on what something costs. When you start asking questions like this, and choose from a different place, things start showing up in an easier and different way. Start asking this and choosing based on what you really desire and see what shows up for you.

Question 7:  How can I invest this money to create more money?

When it comes to money, most people love to spend it. However, that doesn’t allow for it to continue to grow over time. If you really desire to create riches and wealth, you have to start asking this question. If you really desire to have a successful business, you have to start asking this question. You can choose to invest in real estate, antiques, stocks, employees etc., whatever is light for you. As you ask this question, you’ll start finding a way to create money with every dime you spend.

Whether you’re starting a new business or looking to increase your income, adding these questions to your daily life will invite you to a level of change and possibility that will invite you, your business and your money flows to thrive. What if all you have to do is ASK?

How Can Running a Business Improve Your Family Life?

Audio Branding Gives Businesses a Competitive Edge

Hearing is arguably one of our most powerful senses.

Take, for example, how listening to a song is almost like stepping into a time machine. It can take you back to a particular moment in history, perhaps a memorable place or event, and evoke intense feelings.

What’s more, music has also been found to help recall personal memories forgotten by those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, ultimately proving the power of sound on the human mind.

Businesses can also benefit from tapping into the psychology of sound in their marketing strategy.

Visual branding has, in the past, taken front and center when it comes to an organization assigning the marketing budget. People have become comfortable with its application and are well-versed in how it should – and shouldn’t – be used.

However, the use of audio branding by businesses is also on the rise. Audio branding works as a potent tool for promoting brand recall and reinforcing desired brand values in a customer’s mind. In fact, recent research of 1,000 US consumers by PHMG discovered 67% of respondents believe music is more memorable when used in marketing.

There is a perception that audio branding is just for large, international companies who want a sonic logo or a famous jingle like Intel or McDonalds. Yet, having an unlimited marketing budget isn’t a prerequisite.

Audio works for organizations of all sizes – from one-man start-ups to corporate giants. It helps to create a unified brand image across all customer touchpoints, making sure the organization’s audio presence matches the visual branding to help reinforce the intended company values.

While sonic logos are just one element of audio branding, by far one of the largest applications is on the telephone.

When a customer first calls a business to make an enquiry, they will rely on their sense of hearing to forge an initial impression. If an organization gets it wrong, it could prove seriously damaging. In fact, a previous study by PHMG found 59% of consumers wouldn’t give repeat business to a company if their first call was not handled to satisfaction.

Common mistakes include leaving the customer to listen to beeps, poor-quality music or even silence while they wait on hold. Essentially, this is ‘dead air’ that provides no business value, instead prompting irritation and caller hang-ups. Using audio branding can help transform this period of time into a much more positive customer interaction.

Given the implications of providing a poor-quality audio presence, it is important to follow a best-practice approach when building an audio brand for your company. Working in a similar way to visual branding, business owners should consider what image and values they want their organization to portray then work forwards, choosing sound to match the core ideals.

With music, subtle changes in instrumentation, style, key and chord progression can substantially alter what emotions and brand values are perceived by the listener. For example, a PHMG study discovered strings playing short, sharp notes in a major key made 91% of listeners feel happy or excited. Just changing from major to minor altered the listener’s emotional response, with 81% experiencing a sense of sadness or melancholy.

Often, a business will simply deploy a popular music track over the phone hoping that it will entertain the customer until the call can be answered. Yet people involuntarily attach feelings to songs making it difficult to choose one that will appease everyone. For instance, a track might have been one person’s first dance song at their wedding, conjuring up positive emotions in the listener. For another listener, the same song could represent an unpleasant time, prompting them to hang-up to avoid negative recollections.

Ultimately, how a customer will react to a track is impossible to determine. By creating brand audio from scratch, it not only helps avoid any lasting negative perceptions but by having a totally unique sound, it helps your company stand out from the crowd.

Hold time is unavoidable, even for those working out of their home. In fact, the typical US business has been found to leave customers on hold for an average of 29.83 seconds per call.

Perhaps you’re on the other line or you’re away from your desk and cannot get to the phone in time. Thirty seconds may not seem like a long time but think about how the average commercial is less than half a minute in length and can still influence buying decisions so it is important to consider what callers hear during this time.

Voice and music messages created using the company’s audio brand can help engage and entertain callers on hold while reinforcing brand values. They speak to customers on a more relevant and personal level, boosting service levels by providing them with useful information about the organization in a completely unobtrusive manner.

For example, the messages could cross-sell and upsell products, advertise current promotions or relay company information such as opening hours. They could also enhance the firm’s status as an industry leader by offering advice on related subjects or promoting any accreditations or awards the business may have won.

What’s more, 65% of Americans have said they feel more valued if they hear brand-congruent music and voice while on-hold, improving brand loyalty and providing that competitive edge.

How a company manifests itself across customer touchpoints can be the difference between business success and failure. If there are inconsistencies with visual and audio brands, it could portray the wrong brand image and values and make the organization look unprofessional, prompting customers to take their business elsewhere.

For home businesses, ensuring this is possible needn’t cost millions of dollars. Instead, simply deploying brand-congruent music and voice over their phone system can help unify the brand experience and help companies stand out from the crowd.

Do’s and Don’ts of Moving Your Business to Global Markets

One of the best ways for a business to increase sales and growth is to expand overseas. Despite what many perceive as complex local laws, political issues, and cultural barriers, the risk is worth the potential profit increase.

There are obstacles to overcome, but none that can’t be appropriately addressed if you plan correctly.

If you decide you are ready for a move into the global marketplace, this list of do’s and don’ts will help you do so efficiently.

Do Your Research

Research is the most vital component of entering into markets outside your own country. You can learn a lot about the political and economic climate on the internet. Accessing the basic components of importation rules, potential tax issues, and even cultural differences is possible online.

However, there is no substitute for on-the-ground experience. Send in your fact-finding team early. Simple things may not appear in online research. Electricity may not work as well as the tourist and government-sponsored websites suggest. You may find routes to and from your projected place of work or warehouse take much longer than the distances suggest due to local infrastructure and road conditions.

Do Use Professional Translators

Language and translation can be tricky. Many companies have learned the hard way that a brand slogan in English may mean something entirely different, or could be unintelligible, in another language.

You need professional translators, not necessarily tourist operators. A translator who can help with menus, provide a narrative regarding a tourist attraction in English or help you shop, may not have the skills to help you negotiate with property managers, deal with utility companies, or understand the complexities of customs requirements.

Do Employ Locals

Local hires not only speak the local language but can provide a pool of people who have experience working within the local culture. They will understand the various idiosyncrasies of dealing with local officials and local-based clientele.

Do Carefully Screen Local Partners

Ensure you do proper due diligence on any local partners. While there can be legal restrictions on what is possible, there are plenty of companies you can outsource your screening needs to that understand how to work within a country’s privacy laws.

You need sound legal advice to ensure you do not enter into an agreement that will ultimately cost you money and negatively impact your business elsewhere.

Do Choose Your Overseas Locations Carefully

If you do the proper research, you should have a good grasp on where around the world your product or service has the best chance to succeed. Access the risk for not only your product to sell in a market but also the risk to existing personnel who may relocate or visit the area.

Do Leverage Existing Client Relationships

Some of your key customers may be able to help with your global expansion plans. For example, perhaps your customer’s needs are not being met in a country or region. The client may agree to partner with you to help provide the goods or services the customer lacks.

A partnership can also help you more readily grasp the cultural and legal differences of doing business in the area.

Do Consider Local Acquisitions

Choosing to acquire a local company already working in your sector has a lot of advantages compared to starting operations from scratch.

A local company will already understand the culture and have experience working and dealing with the local legal system. You will have an instant, seasoned team you can use to get your product or service out in the local market with minimal infrastructure preparation.

Don’t Underestimate the Costs

The costs and investments necessary to operate in a new market can be significantly greater than expected. Carefully scrub your numbers and budget appropriately. You need to establish the right price point for your product or service, so you have sufficient margins to operate and make a profit.

Don’t Necessarily Expect Your Business Model in the U.S. to Work Elsewhere

Another crucial factor in the global sales and marketing process is understanding how to reach your target market. The distribution model you use in the United States and Europe, for example, may not work in the Middle East.

Sales methods and even products themselves may require modification to reach the new local or regional target market.

Don’t Assume Being an American- or Western-Owned Company Is an Asset

You may need to educate the local market as to the benefits of buying American. Certain countries may not equate “better” with an American version of a type of product or service they have been obtaining for years locally, even if it may be inferior.

Don’t Assume Your Intellectual Property Is Safe

Ensure you get sound local legal advice regarding the protection of intellectual property. Remember that just because a country may have local laws addressing intellectual property rights or is party to an international treaty recognizing intellectual property rights does not mean the laws will be enforced.

The country you operate in may not have the ability to enforce intellectual property laws. You may need to institute your own set of internal protections to minimize the risk.

Don’t Sign Exclusive Distribution Agreements Without a Time Limit

Local distributors often will pressure you into providing exclusive distribution rights for your product or service in the country territory where you want to start up operations.

It may seem like the quickest and easiest way to gain access to a new country’s market, but you may regret it later.

It may limit your growth potential and profit margins, especially if you do not include specific sales goals, marketing requirements, and other specifics to protect yourself.

If you do decide exclusive distribution rights are best for entry into this specific market, limit the term of the contract. Ensure a qualified local attorney approves the contract language.

Don’t Expect the U.S. Embassy to Bail You Out of Trouble

When you are in a foreign country, you are under its rules and authority. If you, one of your employees, or your business gets in trouble, the U.S. Embassy has very limited resources to assist you. The embassy can help you obtain local council and conduct health and welfare checks, but that is about all. The U.S. Embassy cannot violate local sovereignty. The U.S. Constitution does not apply outside the borders of the United States.

Are You Ready for the Game Changing Technology of 3D Printing?

The process of 3D printing creates a physical object out of a digital design. It does this by adding materials layer by layer. In the beginning, it was thought that 3D printing would become a novelty for people who wanted to create their own objects out of plastic at home, but this market never took off as expected. Now, the ability to 3D print metal promises to revolutionize the manufacturing industry. There are many reasons why businesses should look to 3D printing as a solution for improving the efficiency of their business.

How Old Is This Technology?

Many people think of 3D printing as new technology, but it has actually been around for quite some time. The concept was developed in 1983, but it was only in 2009 that it became more common. 3D printing is what is known as additive manufacturing because materials are continually added with each layer. Since 2009 when the first 3D printers were introduced to the open market, sales have been growing steadily. Currently, there are approximately 300,000 consumer 3D printers operating in the world.

Now, advances in technology allow for the ability to print more than plastic. Any material that can be altered in its physical state can be 3D printed. This means that it is now possible to 3D print metal. The layering process makes it possible to combine metals that were never able to be combined in the past due to their unique properties. This has opened up the world of 3D printing to diverse manufacturing processes. It is now possible to fabricate small parts using 3D printing much more efficiently than using standard manufacturing processes.

The Pros of 3D Printing

Currently, 3D printing technology still lags behind manufacturing processes in some ways, but that is quickly changing. In the future, developers hope that 3D printing will be able to replace many labor-intensive and costly manufacturing processes. 3D printing has several advantages over traditional manufacturing.

  • Ability to create complex designs
  • Ability to customize each item made
  • No tools or molds needed means lower fixed costs
  • Faster prototyping with little financial risk
  • Less waste than traditional manufacturing

Cons of 3D Printing

The technology for 3D printing is currently limited, which creates a few disadvantages. As technology improves, many of these disadvantages will be eliminated.

  • Higher costs for larger product runs
  • Currently not as many materials, colors, and finish choices
  • Limited strengths and endurances

Some say that 3D printing is not as precise as standard manufacturing, but this is up for debate. Because there is less chance for human error, 3D printing can be more precise, and have greater consistency between parts.

3D Printing and the Supply Chain

Logistics and the supply chain are one of the most important factors for small business growth. The ability to move supplies from one geographic location to another often means the difference between profitability and loss due to operating costs. The need to move parts over large geographic distances can limit the ability for small businesses to grow and larger ones to remain profitable.

With transportation costs rising, businesses are looking for new solutions for improving the efficiency of their supply chain. 3D printing offers a solution to supply chain problems. It is possible to produce many of the small components such as nuts, bolts, and other small items using 3D printing. This means that these components can be produced in-house, saving transportation costs and the potential that supplies will be delayed. This can be essential for operations that use just in time production methods. 3D printing means that you will always have the supply of components when you need it most.

Opening a World of Business Opportunities

Currently, this technology is being used by automobile manufacturers, physicians, dentists, prosthetic device makers, aircraft manufacturers, aerospace companies, movie prop makers, product designers, architects, students, engineers, and manufacturers of all types of consumer products. Those in the design business benefit from the ability to bring prototypes into reality quickly and to get products to market faster than through the old research and design processes.

The potential uses for 3D printing are increasing all the time. In the early days of 3D printers the technology was not able to do everything that it can today. Now, units have become more affordable and many small businesses are seeing the opportunity to use 3D printing in many different types of manufacturing operations.

Manufacturers that specialize in 3D printed components can offer more cost-effective alternatives than their competitors who use standard manufacturing processes. 3D printers can deliver more consistent parts, which cuts down on waste due to quality control issues. The ability to produce parts cheaply, quickly, and with fewer quality control issues is a manufacturer’s dream.

Lower cost for components also means that many smaller businesses can compete on a larger scale than was possible in the past. 3D printing allows the small mom-and-pop shop to become a major competitor on the global market due to reductions in component costs.

Are You Ready for a Game Changer?

The world of 3D printing is set to revolutionize the manufacturing industry. It is expected that by 2020, nearly 75 percent of all manufacturing processes will use the 3D printing process in some phase of the operation. In a recent survey, nearly 47 percent of businesses using 3D printers said that they have seen a significant return on their investment. This is up from those that indicated a return on their investment in previous years. As the cost of printers go down and the technology improves, the return on investment can be expected to be even greater in the future.

The use of 3D printing in manufacturing will help to improve the bottom line of many companies. This is good news for the companies and it is good news for the investors. The ability of 3D printing to cut operational costs and improve quality will have a positive effect on retained earnings in many businesses.

Improvements in the technology of 3D printing are a game changer for the world manufacturing. Of the systems in use currently, approximately 49 percent are being used in the manufacture of metal components. The remainder is in use for production processes using polymers. Manufacturers that adopt the use of 3D printing, either in-house or outsourced, will propel themselves ahead of their competitors that are still relying on old manufacturing methods.

Outsourcing Solutions

Perhaps those who will benefit the greatest from 3D printing are manufacturers who must adapt their components on a part by part basis. 3D printing speeds all of the steps in the manufacturing process from prototyping to completing the production run. It will be the preferred manufacturing process for many different types of parts in the future. Many envision a world where the need to ship parts over long distances becomes obsolete for the most part.

Even though the costs of 3D printing are coming down, they may still be out of reach for some small manufacturers. Companies that outsource 3D printing offer potential solutions to this problem. Finding a supplier who specializes in 3D printing can save you money and assure that the parts are consistently of high quality.

Perhaps the greatest advantage that holds the most potential in the future is the ability of 3D printing to produce unique one-of-a-kind and small run parts. A world has been imagined where items such as cell phones and coffee makers were 3D printed for each individual customer. This is far in the future, but is in the realm of possibilities at some point in time.

If you need a component that is hard to source, 3D printing may offer the solution. Even if you do not foresee yourself purchasing a printer and doing certain phases of the manufacturing process in-house, choosing a manufacturer who uses 3D printing is a cost-effective way to meet the demands of a changing manufacturing environment. 3D printing is an impressive invention and if you are ready to explore what 3D printing can do for you, perhaps it is time to find a supplier who specializes in the latest innovative technology for your business needs.

How to Customize the Input Device on a Mac

Using dust-covered commanding combinations is not cool anymore; there’s a way to enhance your user experience with the help of revolutionary apps that will ultimately transform your perception of the use of Mac’s input devices!

Customization of Mac Input Devices

If you wish to become best friends with your keyboards, magic mouses, magic trackpads and give them a new life with awe-inspiring shortcuts and dynamic key sequences, then you might want to entertain the idea of powering them with an appropriate tool. There could be so much more room for maneuvers on your trackpad; it’s almost criminal not to try and create it! Presumably, you are not using your accessories even to the five percent of their real functional capacity. Imagine having numerous talents and only being recognized for one or two of them. It’s not a good look; even unfair in some sense of the word. You deal with Mac products regularly but also avoid using all of the proposed functions because of their complexity and elaboration. Using your devices to their full potential is way easier than mastering the advanced features.

App for Changing Device Performance

Diversify your arsenal of moves with applications like BetterTouchTool. This marvelous app will breathe new life into your gadgets! Let’s take a Macbook for illustration. It’s designed to give you a movement carte blanche! Satisfying navigation is key to the pleasant working experience, and that’s why you need to upgrade the array of options it can implement. Improving the range of capabilities will help you perform even the most complicated commands with a few finger motions.

Such a change will save you a lot of precious time. Working efficiently and doing it with style and grace would greatly dilute the boring, grey and dull hours at the office or home. Mix it up and come up with signature combos that will grant you access to the most used apps, popular bookmarks, relevant pages and frequently visited sites and programs in a few seconds. The BetterTouchTool is versatile and packed with features!

BetterTouchTool has you covered on:

Guide to Creating New Gestures

Platform popularity and a respectable amount of trial days means you have no excuse not to expand the activity of your apparatus. The app is easy to download, and you would only have to drag the icon to the app folder. After the loading process is over, you can get into the action. You must visit the preferences tab to get into the gist of things; that’s where you will be able to train your magic tricks. The main menu shouldn’t scare you. It’s not that crowded with sliders and buttons. As we are determined to modify our devices, we can get straight to the point by selecting a subject of change. Your options will be displayed on top of the window. You need to decide what exactly you want to modify. After picking a device, you need to slide a little bit down and click on the grey button that says “create new gesture”. Nothing troublesome, yes?

Lower your eyes a bit to discover a window that suggests you to choose a gesture and pick an action for the gesture to call for. There are so many options that you will finally realize how limited your past contacts with devices were; how much there is for you to explore and learn. You are free to experiment with your fingers and their sliding on the surface. Setting a middle click is a go-to option for beginners. Try coming up with a multi-finger combo for it. Anything MacOS is capable of is suggested to you. You will run out of ideas before you run out of combinations and gestures; that is a given. The procedure for other devices goes by the same outline. The whole revitalization process with BetterTouchTool will absorb your attention and smarten you up about the machine you are using.

The Challenge That Etched Dr. Picardi to Greatness

In life, hard-hitting challenges either break or make business owners. For Dr. Ed Picardi, it was the latter. Right after speaking against U.S. Health reform programs Obamacare and Hillarycare, the South Dakota surgeon was charged with multiple counts of a felony that enabled him to be sentenced to prison and be stripped of his medical license in 2013.

Nevertheless, following the thorough review by the Nebraska Medical Board, Dr. Picardi received his medical license back and this time there was no stopping him.

Additionally, the American Board of Surgery reinstated Dr. Picardi’s board certification in General Surgery. The move by the medical board was also a historic one as Dr. Picardi became the only surgeon in the history of the United States of America to be awarded back a Board Certification status after a felony conviction.

It was reported that the board granted Dr. Picardi his board certification status after the medical board came to a conclusion that the felony charges were politically motivated following a comprehensive and broad investigation.

His wrongful conviction took a toll on the financial lives of Dr. Ed Picardi and his wife Sandy. Nonetheless, it did not stop him from doing what he does best and that is giving people a ray of hope.

Right after being reinstated by the American Board of Surgery and given medical license by the Nebraska Medical Board, Dr. Picardi immediately received an urgent call which he described as a sign from God as he was informed of the pressing need of medical missionary work in Africa.

Without a single amount of hesitation, Dr. Picardi packed his bags for Africa and has since been a volunteer of the medical missionary work known as the Samaritan’s Purse.

In spite of huge risks and financial difficulties, the esteemed surgical specialist Dr. Picardi is set to travel to Liberia in May and to Togo, Africa in June to do his missionary work and on patients suffering from malaria, Ebola and Lassa fever.

It can be recalled that numerous doctors died in Liberia in the span of 2014 to 2017 due to the alarming case of Ebola virus but instead of folding up and staying at home, Dr. Picardi is brave enough to take the risk as he is set to do what he refers to as simply God’s work.

In order to be truly happy with our respective lives, Dr. Picardi, who has more than 20 years of experience tucked under his belt, believes that God should be at the center of our daily lives.

Furthermore, Dr. Picardi hopes that he can attain the position of a general surgeon in the near future as he looks forward to changing people’s lives in any way imaginable.

Debunked: 3 Myths Associated with Brick and Mortar Stores

Whether you are currently running a successful online enterprise, or are looking to directly take the plunge onto the high street, it would be fair to say that there are a lot of myths doing the rounds about why you shouldn’t take such a route.

There’s no doubt that the internet has opened up a lot more opportunities for businesses and in some ways, it’s far easier, and cheaper, to operate from an online storefront which doesn’t require the annual rent or taxes that brick and mortar establishments require.

However, before you immediately discount the offline option, we have put together today’s guide which scrutinizes some of the truths behind all of the misconceptions that arise from brick and mortar stores such as if they will survive in the digital era. Let’s take a look at the three main ones to balance out the viewpoint, somewhat.

Myth #1 – Payment processing systems are expensive

Setting up a website and accepting payments is something that has become incredibly simple over the last few years. It may have once involved complex technology, but services are out there which can be comfortably built-in to an existing platform. Considering the fact that you don’t need to buy a physical device to facilitate such payments, this is regarded as a major advantage by a lot of business owners.

However, the merchant services industry has come on leaps and bounds in relation to brick and mortar stores as well. These payment processing systems tend to operate on a transaction fee basis, meaning that you will only pay when a customer makes a purchase. This is comparable to many of the systems that are made available to ecommerce stores.

In short, you don’t have to worry about paying for expensive hardware anymore.

Myth #2 – Retail space involves long, costly contracts

Again, this is one of those “once upon a time” cases. Several years ago, retail spaces might have involved long and costly contracts and in truth, if you were to cast the net over certain areas of the country, this might still prove to be the case.

In general, the retail space has become much more flexible though. This is partly due to less competition, with malls having to make space available for “pop up” shops which tend to sit in the walkways and offer shorter-term contracts to businesses. For those who are looking to dip their toes in the water for the offline world, this is something that can work particularly well and obviously doesn’t involve exuberant costs.

Myth #3 – The high street is dying

Finally, we’ve all heard about the so-called “death of the high street” but this isn’t necessarily as true as some sources say. Is popularity dwindling in brick and mortar stores? To some extent, yes. Has it completely vanished? Not at all.

Sure, the footfalls we saw several decades ago might not exist, but that doesn’t mean to say that opportunities aren’t there. It’s all about choosing the right location and working out whether or not your business is suited to a brick and mortar store. In some cases, it won’t be at all, but in others it might transform your fortunes.

Meet Jane Stoller: Founder of Organizing For Your Lifestyle

From Construction Queen to Lifestyle & Organizational Guru

Born and raised on a farm in a small town in Ontario, Canada, Jane’s love for organizing began at an early age. She would line up all of her pet cats by size, books by publication date and stuffed animals by color! Jane grew up to work for one of the largest cement companies in the world, climbing the corporate ladder. This company moved her all over Canada, and then on to Zurich, Switzerland, where her parents were born. Jane gained invaluable skills through this career, but realized she was not following her heart and did not have the flexibility she needed in her life. She then went on to found her own business, Organizing For Your Lifestyle, in 2017.

“I started off by organizing spaces for my friends and family – just for fun! Then I realized this was truly my passion, and I wrote and self-published my first book, Organizing For Your Lifestyle, while still working my corporate job,” explains Jane. “Eventually, I made the leap and quit. At first, I was terrified to branch out on my own. I even hired the fabulous coach Think Natalia to help me get over my fears. My fear was so intense, I was even afraid to change my LinkedIn profile, notifying others that I left the corporate world.”

Now, Jane is thriving. Her business, Organizing For Your Lifestyle has touched the lives of many individuals, businesses and families. Through modern technology, such as FaceTime and Skype, Jane is able to walk clients through the necessary steps. She also travels all over the world to transform spaces and people’s lives, and is in the process of developing her signature 30-day Organizing course, set to launch in Summer 2018.

What makes Jane’s organizing approach unique is her holistic method. “Organizing is a lifestyle, that will help you conquering anything.” Jane’s skills are not only applicable within ones living space, but also at ones place of business. Whether it is a large corporate office, or a shared workspace, Jane strongly believes that organization and routines enhance once work productivity, and quality of life. She starts redefining your office and continues at your home – or vice versa.

“People do not often see the correlation between their cluttered spaces, and their stress and anxiety,” says Stoller. “Even just a quick spring-cleaning or properly folded clothes can make such a big difference. Organization within ones spaces leads to reduced stress, increased happiness, and productivity.”

Most recently Jane completed an office re-structure for a financial services firm in Ottawa, Canada. The process included not only focusing on the organizational chart but the specific tasks for each employee and training on how to be most productive to get these tasks done. The result was a 30% increase in employee productivity, which is valuable time they can now spend with clients.

Jane’s latest one-on-one coaching client reached out to help get her started with the goal of starting a side business. Jane broke down the steps and over 4 one-on-one coaching sessions, which entailed helping this client organize her space, re-define her targets and goals, determining time management skills, and putting a plan in place to start her side business successfully.

A trademark that Jane insists on tackling is the closet. Jane strongly believes any organizational plan begins with the closet, as it is the first thing most people see after they wake up. This sets the mood for entire day. For this space, she helps develop the best organizing schemes, which transfer over to the rest of her clients’ goals.

“Getting organized can be overwhelming and daunting. Often, the hardest part is figuring out where to start. But that’s something I can help with, because I’ve already done the research, and pulled together information that I know will help motivate my clients and make organizing a priority.”

Her ultimate goal is to make organizing a routine so that people can forget about it! Her mantra: “Organizing is a lifestyle, but it isn’t one-size-fits-all. Incorporating organizing into your life shouldn’t, ultimately, involve changing who you are, but rather maximizing it. Remember: being organized doesn’t mean thinking about organizing all the time. Ideally, being organized means that you don’t have to think about organizing all the time—because you do it automatically, as an organic part of your everyday routine.”

In addition, Stoller is a part of the tech world, currently developing an educational video game based on real-world construction design launching in early 2019. With her widespread experience in construction, including hands on operational management to global performance improvement, she hopes to make the tech world a cool place to work for millennials and increase the overall digitization of the industry.

Jane also spends time in the classroom, as undergrad guest professor at Vancouver Island University. She is set to teach a master class in September 2018: Organizing Your Life and Business.

In her little spare time, Jane enjoys staying active – snowboarding during the winter, wakeboarding in the summer, and running. She also has property in the Bahamas, where she enjoys family time, and is able to reset and refresh. She currently spends most of her time between Vancouver, Canada and Zurich, Switzerland.
