The Uttar Pradesh police has written to the state home department seeking a ban on Popular Front of India (PFI), a “radical” Islamic outfit with notable pockets of influence in western UP and which is accused of being behind incidents of violence and vandalism during recent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
