The survey has a significant chapter dedicated to possible use of the “Nudge” theory, which won economist Richard Thaler the Nobel, to encourage better economic and social behaviour based on a study of how people often do not opt for better choices, sometimes despite being aware of the better option. It suggests a “Nudge unit” in Niti Aayog to study its policy implications.
